CURBSIDE PICKUP

Though the River Grove Public Library’s building is open to the public, we still offer a Curbside Pickup service for holds on library materials for RGPL cardholders!

The Curbside Pickup hours are:

Monday-Thursday: 10AM-9PM
Friday-Saturday: 10AM-5PM

You must call to schedule an appointment time to pick up your materials, otherwise, your holds will not be waiting for you at the pickup station but will instead be behind the Circulation Desk.

HOW DOES THE CURBSIDE PICKUP SERVICE WORK?

1. Place a hold on an item either through the online catalog or by phone call to 708-453-4484. Most materials within the SWAN consortium are available for Curbside Pickup for RGPL cardholders.

Note: Not all materials will be available immediately for pickup.

 

2. Wait to be notified that your holds are ready for pickup, either by email or phone call. If you would like to pick up your holds at the Curbside Pickup Station, please call to schedule an appointment.

Please, do not schedule an appointment if you have not received a notification that your holds are available.

3. Pick up your holds at the Curbside Pickup station in the Library’s parking lot beside the building. Please bring your library card with you for identification purposes. We don’t want to mix up your holds with someone else’s.

 

Pickup by car: Park in one of the designated Curbside Pickup parking spaces in front of the fence along the west side of the building and call the library at 708-453-4484 to notify staff that you’ve arrived. A Library staff member will be with you momentarily with your holds. If those parking spaces are full, please wait two car lengths behind so that the car in the space can back up to leave.

Please do not get out of your vehicle to meet the staff member. If possible, pop the trunk of your vehicle so the staff member can place your items inside your car with minimal human contact.

Pickup by bike or on foot: Stand on one of the marked spaces beside the building. The lines are spaced six feet apart in compliance with social distancing guidelines.

Please do not stand closer to your line-neighbor than the recommended six feet.

Please wear a mask. It is required.

Please be respectful of everyone’s health and safety.

WHAT IS THE CURBSIDE PICKUP SERVICE?

River Grove Public Library cardholders can place library materials they want to check out on hold. The library staff will gather these items (in order of availability) and call to arrange for curbside pickup in the Library parking lot.

Who Can Place Holds? River Grove Library cardholders with fines under $100. If you card expired while we were closed due to Covid-19, your card has been renewed. We cannot accept cards from other libraries.

What Materials Are Available? Books, audiobooks, DVDs, Blu-rays, and CDs owned by the River Grove Public Library. Materials from other libraries are currently unavailable. A maximum of 15 items can be checked out at a time.

How long does it take? If an item is on shelf, you should receive a notification (either through email or phone call) that it’s ready for pickup. You must schedule a time to pick up your items, otherwise, your holds will not be moved to the Curbside Pickup station. Please call or email to set up your pickup appointment.

Appointment slots are in 10 minute increments. A cardholder can pick up items twice a week.

Can I return materials? Yes! But only at the book return slot at the front of the Library building, to the right of the entrance doors. Staff will not accept returns at the pickup station.
